How does evaluating a sample text help me to improve my own writing? Essential Question(s): How can I dissect a writing prompt? How does evaluating a sample text help me to improve my own writing? Work Session: Finish presentation for GMAS Writing. Students will practice the “Do What” strategy for dissecting writing prompts. Students will label the parts of an argumentative essay. Closing: What did the writer do well in the argumentative essay? How can he/she improve? Homework: None Monday - March 5, 2018
Standard(s): ELAGSE9-10W7 Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solve a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation. Essential Question(s): How can I use an analogy to understand various aspects of language? Warm-up: We are going to take a 10-15 minute trip to the book fair. Keep in mind, that this week, you will begin selecting a book for Q4. Work Session: The entire class will take a trip to the book fair. Student groups will work on their Language is Infrastructure Projects - due at the end of class. Closing: Every group needs to ensure that their lesson plan and project doc is submitted by their chosen group member. Homework: Language is Infrastructure presentations start on Tuesday.
